What's new on Itunes this week
What's new and hot on itunes this week?
Oct 27th 2010
I love TUESDAY'S! I love itunes telling me what is new and helping me find my musical loves. Every Tuesday I eagerly search through the new singles and albums and this is my favorites for this week.
WE R WHO WE R-Ke$ha
I am seriously so obsessed with this song! As soon as I heard it, I said out loud OH That's Fun!
Here I am- Trey Songz & Monica
This song is a little baby makin' but it is really good. Their voices sound REALLY good together. Come on.. who doesn't like a sexy time song-- just use it appropriately. haha
Mine-Taylor Swift
As much as I don't want to like Taylor Swift, I really do like this song.
I hope you like my picks this week and come back next week to see what I pick next week!
Lots of Love,
ASH

Weird things--
I thought I would share this weird picture I have taken with my phone:
Things I am excited about this week!
Things I am excited about this week!
Next Saturday I am going to see Aretha Franklin with my Mom at Drury University!
I love my Aretha. I have been a huge fan since I was in middle school. I am so excited, this was on my bucket list. She is the Queen of Soul people, this is reason to be VERY excited! Pictures to be posted post concert!

Pumpkin carving
I made a list of things I wanted to make sure I did this Fall:
- Ride the Branson Scenic Railway-- CHECK
- Plan a trip to see friends-- CHECK CHECK (St. Louis & Oklahoma respectively)
- Carve a pumpkin-- After today CHECK!
I met up with Shelley and Leisa from work and we ate lunch at the Market Bistro (yummy) and then bought some pumpkins and carved them. They kept it classic, but I went a little more creative. I don't know why, but when I saw my particular pumpkin I just imagined it with glasses.
This is only the 3rd pumpkin that I have ever carved, so I think I am getting better! It just cracks me up that now that I live on my own I am creating my own traditions. Until after college I had never carved a pumpkin before and now it just does not feel like Fall until I have done that. So, feast your eyes on our creations!
ALL ABOARD!
ALL ABOARD!
Those of you who know me very well know that I LOVE really random things. I like to go places that others would normally assume are boring, awkward, or a waste of time. I view most of those things as a way to meet interesting people and act ridiculous without caring about what any of the people around you think about your behavior.
I have wanted to go to the Branson Scenic Railway since I was 12 years old. I very vividly remember the first time I saw it. I had gone to Branson early for Thanksgiving with my grandparents and they took me downtown to see the thrift shops and the five and dime. While we were down there we passed the train, my Grandpa commented on the train and I knew I had to go on it someday. I wanted to ride that train and I wanted to do it in the fall when I could admire all of the beautiful trees. Many moons have passed (12 years to be exact), but last weekend I went on that train and it was so fun.
I took one of the ladies from my office and we made a whole day of it. We went to the Landing, got our shop on, ate at Cantina Laredo then went to buy our tickets for the train. The train was cute and very old school, which I loved, and we made our way down to Arkansas and back. The trees were all changing and we had 2 hours to just talk and relax.
I love being able to make childhood dreams come true. These things might seem silly, but every time I get to do something that I had wished about it makes me so happy and proud. As a budding adult I can go after my long term dreams of being a successful business woman without forgetting the joys of being a kid and dreaming about silly and wonderful things. Life is about the journey-- So I say ALL ABOARD! Join me on this crazy trip!
This is part of the view-- So pretty |
A weekend with the Tanners
A couple of weekends ago my parents came to see me in Springfield. Mom and Dad had not been up to see me in a while, so I was excited for them to come up. My parents are very busy people and rarely just "cut loose" so when they come I try to show them a good time.
We started off with a dinner at Olive Garden. (One of my Dad's favorite places in the world. DO NOT get him started about the soup and salad deal-- I mean it. He feels very strongly about it) Next, we headed next door to K-mart. I do not remember why we originally went there, but it quickly turned into a ridiculous adventure. At some point we were walking around and Mom mentioned that she wanted to find a new lamp shade for the lamps in their living room. If you have ever seen the lamps/lampshades you would agree that this is an excellent idea. So, we start looking at the shades and Mom is debating between two so I offer a "helpful" piece of advice. Just try to put them on your head and which ever one looks better is the winner since you will be wearing it the next time you have a drunken party. ** Side note: I honestly joke about these things with my very Godly parents, they know I am joking, and I think they enjoy it a litte** So, I promptly plop one on my head and start dancing around. The next thing I know my Mom plops one on her head and is dancing around to the Abba Song "Dancing Queen" We are laughing and dancing and then when I take the lampshade off of my head I realize that there is an old lady who just took a picture of us with her camera phone. OOPSIE!
The following pictures were taken shortly after the lampshade incident. My parents have a reputation for being rather serious, but they are very funny and when well fed and tired they really act up-- and I like that a LOT!

What I've been up to:Getting certified in Social Media Marketing
I have been considering going back to school to take some special classes in marketing or design. So, last Wednesday I contacted someone at Drury to find out class schedules for the next semester, and while talking to a lady she mentioned they had a social marketing certification masters class. The next session would start the following week. I was blown away, I had been thinking about taking something like that, but did not know where I would find one around here. I then checked and found out that my work would pay for me to take this class, as it will help the company expand it marketing assistance. This was all too good to be true! So, Monday I had my boss sign off on my taking the class and contacted someone to register to Drury so I could then sign up for my class. I was concerned with only having 2 days to get the paperwork done for my class, when I called a representative in the masters office I found out I only had one day. The class was starting TOMORROW!! WHAT?! She sent over paperwork and I faxed it right back. BAM-- in about 15 minutes it was all done.
I have been super nervous about going back to school for some reason. I know it is going to be ok, but I just freak myself out about that kind of stuff. I was always a good student and I am capable of handling the work load. So, I had my first class last night and it went well. I think it is going to be really good and I am going to learn a lot! I am investing in my future and it is scary and exciting! So, I am hoping on the social media bandwagon. YEHAW!

Style envy-this week
LAUREN CONRAD!
I know, she was on the Hills and Laguana Beach--and people thought those shows were lame.... Blah blah blah. WHATEVER! We are about the same age, so I feel like for my college years I was growing up with LC and the gang. Plus, she left the show right before it got EVEN more ridiculous to the point it was inbearable to watch. I am glad she is doing well in her post reality show life. She seems grounded. I will admit I have read her first two novels, and they were really fun poolside reads. I am excited to read her newest. Its not great American literature, but it is very entertaining.
I am also very excited to see her new style book as well. I am super jealous of her style. She does the perfect slight cat eye and beatiful red lips... just so clean and fresh and pretty-- I wish I could pull that off. Her hair especially makes me super jealous. It is so cute! I like the little braids it makes me wanna hire a glam team. The picture below is just beyond pretty.
PS- Speaking of great hair--I found a great new salon in Springfield. I went to AVBS this week and it was AMAZING. They have great walk in deals on Tuesday and Wednesday nights so I can a great haircut, the best shampooing experience of my life (no seriously, it was Fan-freakin-tastic) all for $23 bucks! I look fierce and my bank account appreciates it too! So, check it out-- you will not be sorry!

So you fancy huh?
A couple of weeks ago we discussed making a promo for one of our Account Executives in Branson named Larry. As most of you know, I love doing creative projects like this-- and I recently decided I would love to do things like this as my "BIG KID" dream job. So, I helped write and come up with creative direction. Nate of course did the leg work and Larry did a good job. I am so proud of this little piece! It was a lot of fun, and during production included Larry having to put the microphone down his pants. Which then spurned the catchphrase. "Don't be nervous, you look great especially for a guy with a mic down his pants!" Check it out. An OnMedia production--with a little Atan sparkle.
**DISCLAIMER- Now, nobody crank call him since I am puting this up here and ladies-- he is taken so lets keep it PG, huh.

You make me wanna fist pump!
First of all I would like togive a shout out to to my friend Becca aka "Jantzey!"
We met for sushi the other night and she was telling me that she has been enjoying my blog, when I ask specifically what she liked she told me she likes when I talk about songs and what they make me wanna do. For some reason , the way she worded that really cracks me up-- so Jantzey and other faithful followers you wanna know what song makes me wanna swing my new weave and fist pump like I am Snookie from Jersey shore....even though I have no idea what half the lyrics are saying?
FEAST your EARS on this ridiculous and recent obsession of mine. Like a G6- Far East Movement.

Creativity and laughter will always win my heart!
Here are two clips about love that I love!
One of the ladies at work showed me this today and it warmed my tiny cold dead heart. They went to a movie and this played as a preview. I just think this is beyond adorable. GOOD work boys! Be sweet, be creative, and earn your ladies love and affection!
This was a clip from last week's Mike and Molly a show on CBS. For some reason their converation about the snapper got me laughing so hard. As much as I wanted to not like this show, Sookie from Gilmore Girls is just so adorable, I can't help myself. Check out the clip below-- so ridiculous!

Weekly inspiration- See the beauty that surrounds you
This week my goal has been to try to see things with a fresh perspective. I think it gets easy to be bored with the status quo of your life. So, this week I have tried to see the beauty that surrounds me in all of its forms. Not only the pretty weather we have been having here in Springfield, but the beautiful and inspiring people that I call my loved ones. Your kindness, generosity, sense of humor, and character inspire me every day. Take a little time to see the beauty that God has placed for us to enjoy!
Lots of love,

Am I addicted to my iphone?
I got an iphone about 6 months ago and really like it. Before I got my iphone I had a blackberry which I liked until it started randomly calling people on its own. Everyone told me that I would just melt over the iphone, that I would become one of those crazy people who could not put their phone down. I quickly told them that I simply am not one of those people. I am not obsessed with getting the newest shinest toy, its just not my style.
FASTFORWARD 6 months
Today I accidentally left my phone at my house when I left for work. I realized this shortly after I got there, but thought it was no big deal-- because how many personal calls do I get during the day anyways. So, I went along my day. I realized that randomly I would reach for my phone to check twitter or facebook while my computer was getting worked on-- only to realize that it was not there. I did this often enough that it made me realize how much I use my phone to do so many things. My phone holds more that just phone numbers: I have videos and pictures of my niece and nephew, tons of music, my facebook and twitter account, my shopping list, and so much more. I will admit I was able to continue my day and I did not convulse because my iphone was not attached to my hand, but it made me realize how things become so ingrained in your daily routine without you even realizing it.
So, iphone. Thanks for keeping me in the loop about all of my favorite things-- but in the meantime I now know I need to be more aware of how I spend my time and my energy. Invest in people not things.
Lots of love,
ASH

Weekly obsessions
1.I heard this song last week on the British station with Sirius radio. This song makes me want to jazzercise and spin around. I have been listening to this non-stop when I go for my evening walks. LOVE it!
2. Can we just talk about how good the Britney Spears themed episode of Glee was? SO GOOD! I feel like we all grew up with Britney Spears and so it was kind of nice to know all of the songs they were singing and seeing Mr. Schue get his groove on wasn't too shaby eithier. I have some very fond memories of dancing to some Britney Spears songs. I think my favorite is her song- Do something. My roomate in college, Ronnie, would always do the best dances to that song. I don't care if we were fighting, having a bad day, or anything else-- when that song came on we morphed into a ridiculous dancing world that always made me laugh. Another funny one was when the new Britney Spears album came out about 3 years ago I went at midnight with a friend and then took his picture of him getting the album. He was just so excited, and it just makes me smile that music can do that for people. What is your favorite Britney song?
3. FALL--I love you fall, you are the best! I am excited about the leaves changing, eating pumpkin rolls and carmel apples, going on hayrides, wearing my super cute cardigans and jackets, and all the fall adventures that are on their way!

5 and 5- If you don't write it down, it does not exist
This week in our sales meeting we had a discussion about goals, since I work for a sales organization this is a fairly common topic, but for some reason this week's discussion really got me thinking. As part of the exercise, this week we have to write down 5 personal goals and 5 professional goals. I have found myself randomly thinking about that this week, and finding myself stumped. I love lists-- why is this so hard for me to write down my goals. I am beginning to realize that to me these things are so hidden that I am almost afraid to tell them to anyone because I don't want anyone to squash them. Don't you just hate it when you have some good news or somehting you are excited about and the person you are telling it to, just shuts you down or makes you feel ridiculous. That is the worst!
So, I have been pondering my goals and thinking about the next steps for me on this wacky journey called life. I am slowly figuring out what I do want based on what I don't want. So I have formed a small list of things that I know I don't want right now. *DISCLAIMER* This is not saying that I do not ever want these things or if you do want these things that you are wrong. I believe all of these things can be great I just know that this is not what I want at this mid-twenties stage.
1. No BABIES- I recently when to a baby shower for a friend who is only a year older than myself and I was blown away! As mentioned in my previous blog posting-- I am not ready for mini Ashley's. Plus-- the whole I am not married thing might have a little something to do with that too ;).
2. I don't want to do a job based on its pay. I know I can make a lot of money doing sales, but at the end of the day that is not where I find my bliss. I love having a creative outlet. I know I am supposed to be in advertising, but I refuse to play games to be successful. I want to create beautiful and effective marketing and advertising pieces for businesses. I am still trying to parlay that into a career, but I have decided this week after helping with a commercial shoot for one of our AE's that I could and would be really great as a creative director. Who knows kids-- I might be the next Don Draper off of Mad Men ( wait, that might not be the best thing-- Don Draper without the booze and floozie issues)
The list continues, and I don't want to bore you anymore with my ramblings, but I encourage you this week to make your 5 and 5 list with me and search yourself for what you really want. After you deciede that go out there and get it! You are a truly beautiful and unique creation that God made to serve him and serve others-- so go do your thing! Make me proud

Last weekend: Seriously Moms- you are amazing
Last weekend I had the privelage to help my Mom and Dad babysit my nephew and niece. My Dad had recently hurt his shoulder and I knew that my Mom could use the help and I enjoy seeing the kiddos so I headed to good ole Greenville to hang out with the parental units and the kids-- if I had only known what was in store...
Meet Miss Audrey Brooks- She is almost 3 and is way too smart for her own good. She likes to tease people and has more energy than should be allowed in one person. She is ridiculously cute though-- and she has her aunt Ash wrapped around her little finger. Her favorite things at the moment are Barbie movies (yes I watched about 3 on loop the entire weekend) and playing on playgrounds. I love this little bundle of energy and sass!
Now I would like you to meet my nephew Aiden. He is 7 months and one of the best babies I have ever seen. While Audrey is extremely dramatic and energetic, Aiden is the ultimate picture of the ultimate chill dude. He is VERY smiley, which I love, and loves music. He adores my niece and will sympathy cry when she gets really upset. Over the weekend he definately became an Ash's boy. Meet the handsome Mr. Aiden.

The real drama greeted me at 9:00 sharp on Saturday morning. I awoke to hear my niece screaming bloody murder and jumped out of the bed to investigate the situation. As I open the door I see both my niece and my dad in a pile on the floor. Apparently my dad had tripped over her and they both fell... at least I think it was something like that. So, I check and make sure my dad is ok and go track down my niece. Audrey had run off and was wailing under the dining room table. So, I crawl under there and scoop her up and try to hug her and wipe the tears. As I walk into the living room I find my mom and she is holding my nephew. So, she hands me Aiden and I give her Audrey to consol. I sit down with Aiden, who promptly wipes his very snotty baby nose all over my t-shirt that I had worn to bed. He then smiles at me and with both of his hands grabs my face and laughs. I look at the clock-- It is offically 9:03 and I have already had a very full day!
The weekend went well, it was a constant state of feed a kid, clean a kid, try to get a kid to sleep, pick them up, and do it all again. I have babysat a lot in my life and always been around kids, but I had no idea the constant craziness that mothers deal with everyday. I loved every minute I spent with my niece and nephew, but I found myself longing for my quiet Friday night blockaded in my apartment watching a movie by myself. It made me appreciate all those working mom's-- you ladies are FAR better than I. So, to you all I say-- DEAR MOMS-- You ARE amazing!

My weekly OMG MOMENTS!
I had several OMG moments this week-- I consider an OMG moment as when somehting so faboulous of awe inspiring happens you either can only say OMG or you can only squeak out random noises and shrieks.
MOMENT 1-Sunday night I was flipping through the channels when I stumbled on Cinderella playing on BET. I LOVE this movie. I remember when this movie first came on ABC Sunday movie when I was a kid- Whitney Houston is PERFECTION in this movie. Pre-crack Whitney is the best! I also remember back in the day thinking the Asian prince was a cutie! It made me laugh how as soon as I saw this movie I instantly became 10 years old again. Enjoy this clip of Whitney and Brandi singing Impossible.
MOMENT 2-As I have told you before, I am addicted to twitter. This week I was checking my twitter feed when I saw that Dolly Parton (yes I follow Dolly Parton on twitter, don't act surprised) had a tweet reminding us that the musical 9-5 will be coming to St. Louis in February so don't forget to buy tickets. --HEART POUNDS-- SOUNDS VANISH-- and then I FREAK OUT! I shriek like a crazy lady. 9-5! Dolly! St. Louis!! OMG!!!!! People, 9-5 is easily one of my favorite movies of all times and St. Louis is only about 3 hours from where I live. THIS HAS GOT TO HAPPEN! Plus, it starts playing the day after my birthday-- if this is not a sign. I don't know what would be one. So, enjoy the clip below!
MOMENT 3/4-I got to skype with my 2 favorite Overseas pals. Meagan and Jade- it was so nice to talk to you! Dear Skype-- thanks for creating a way to talk to ones I love that are very far away from my face, but near my heart! LOVES!

My adventure with the PBR: A review of Ashley adventures
I would like to start this post by being very honest. I have never had a thing for cowboys! Apparently, this is not normal. Earlier last week we were having an office discussion about cowboys and the professional bullriding event coming to town. The ladies were oohing and ahhing about how they were excited and I mentioned my feelings about cowboys which left the room momentarily silent. I quickly mentioned, even thought I am a huge cowboy fan I would like to see bullriding because I have always wanted to go to a rodeo. After some discussing I was convinced to go to the PBR event So, this last weekend I the Professional Bullriding event on Saturday night with Shelley. Those of you who know me know that I love really random things like this. So, PBR here I come!
As we walked towards the arena I hear the song "Save a horse ride a cowboy" and I instanly knew it was all going to be ok, and this would be a memorable experience. The whole night was a lot of fun! The cowboys were so talented and regardless of your knowledge of the sport, you have to give these brave boys props. Those bulls are freakin enormous and they are being thrown around--its so crazy! So-- my suggestion is if you ever get the chance to go to something like that, do it! It was really random, but very fun!

So-- my suggestion is if you ever get the chance to go to something like that, do it! It was really random, but very fun!
Things I am Obsessed with this week!
Whip my Hair- Willow Smith
I heard this song the other day in the car--- ooohhh I almost stopped the car so I could properly shake my goodies. I don't even care if this girl is 9-- this song is FIERCE and I know my gays are gonna be working it out to this soon!
Glee
I am so glad that this show is back! That Amber girl is beyond terrific!
Somebody to love- Justin Bieber ft Usher
I love this version. SO good- Usher is sexy!

Love Songs--
For some reason today I was thinking about love songs! Maybe it is because I really love the fall and I have always thought that if I ever fall in love it would be in the FALL. It is just such a magical time of the year so to celebrate I am sharing with you today a few of my favorite love songs. Enjoy!
I love EVERYTHING about this video and song. I heard it one day on my way to work and it is just so sweet, then I saw this video and it only warmed my little cold dead heart even more. It's a good one!
Ok, a couple of weeks I heard this song when I was on my Flight of the Conchords fix. For some reason, I feel like if I ever had a love song written for me, it would go a little something like this. I don't know why I love it so much, but it makes me smile everytime I hear it!
This is one of my favorite love songs to Jesus. It is super old, but everytime I listen to this song it reminds me how much God loves and how little I give him in return. At the core of my being I want to live a life that reflects his overwhelming love. This is a love song for a savior ( on a much less holy moment-- check out the zexy sweaters these boys are rocking-- WOH)
I love this song so much (Shout out Aretha-- see you in OCT) and I LOVE this movie. This is one of my favorite movie scenes of all times.

okay people 5 months until I turn 25
Greetings friends and lovers!
As you all know I LOVE birthday's, and for some reason yesterday I started thinking about the one I have coming up (5months from today that is) and it is a BIG one. I will be 25! For some reason, I really want to make this birthday extra special. I normally do a group dinner then a little something something afterwards, but I want this year to be different. I feel at this point in my life, I am out of the "just out of school" phase, and I am trying to figure out what is next in my life. So-- I would like to do something fun and a little ridiculous. I am still throwing around some ideas and I want to hear all of your suggestions--but here is what I am thinking

1. I want all of my favorite faces there: Ok out of town loves-- that means YOU! GET here and I will find someplace for you to stay! I just really want my loves from my different worlds all in one place to help me usher in this milestone! (ps-- I want to see more than just the faces shown here. I had to edit)
2. VENUE- I want to have someplace where we can maybe have a private dancefloor and have a good time without having to worry about obnoxious drunkels! I am still working on that part-- Springfield kids-- you got any ideas?
I think we could all look a little something like the above picture.. don't you think?
3. I am thinking we do some random activities and eat cupcakes etc. I just want everyone to come have a good time and have all my people there. SO talk to me people! You got any good ideas?

Day 31: Favorite Reads
I enjoy reading. I would not call myself an avid reader, because I get a little A.D.D with books, so something has to get my attention and keep it or I am gone. So below I talk about my new favorite book and my new favorite guilty pleasure read.
1.The Happiness Project-This is one book I think everyone HAS to read at least once in your life. It is amazing. Are you looking for a change-- want to live a more full life. This book gives you so many great and practical ideas. It helps you break down big goals into smaller managable pieces. LOVE LOVE LOVE it!
SYNOPSIS Gretchen Rubin had an epiphany one rainy afternoon in the unlikeliest of places: a city bus. "The days are long, but the years are short," she realized. "Time is passing, and I'm not focusing enough on the things that really matter." In that moment, she decided to dedicate a year to her happiness project. In this lively and compelling account of that year, Rubin carves out her place alongside the authors of bestselling memoirs such as Julie and Julia , The Year of Living Biblically , and Eat, Pray, Love . With humor and insight, she chronicles her adventures during the twelve months she spent test-driving the wisdom of the ages, current scientific research, and lessons from popular culture about how to be happier. Rubin didn't have the option to uproot herself, nor did she really want to; instead she focused on improving her life as it was. Each month she tackled a new set of resolutions: give proofs of love, ask for help, find more fun, keep a gratitude notebook, forget about results. She immersed herself in principles set forth by all manner of experts, from Epicurus to Thoreau to Oprah to Martin Seligman to the Dalai Lama to see what worked for her and what didn't. Her conclusions are sometimes surprising she finds that money can buy happiness, when spent wisely; that novelty and challenge are powerful sources of happiness; that "treating" yourself can make you feel worse; that venting bad feelings doesn't relieve them; that the very smallest of changes can make the biggest difference and they range from the practical to the profound. Written with charm and wit, The Happiness Project is illuminating yet entertaining, thought-provoking yet compulsively readable. Gretchen Rubin's passion for her subject jumps off the page, and reading just a few chapters of this book will inspire you to start your own happiness project.
2. Texts from last night- I found this on twitter the other day, they also have a book and website. I am obsessed-- it cracks me up! People are ridiculous
Texts From Last Night (TFLN) was founded in February 2009 by two friends for reasons that may or may not include: the tendency to press send more easily as the night turns to morning, friends' social habits, disgraced government officials, exes, law school, closing down bars and leaving tabs open, general debauchery and/or a common disgust for all the negativity surrounding the 'sexting' phenomenon.
We prefer texts, not conversations. We reserve the right to post portions of conversations without duplicating the entire thing. It's not because the entire thing isn't funny, but the funniest texts are those we can all relate to, so without the context of the conversation, they become really funny.

Day 29: The Atan guide to beauty
As many of you know-- I love beauty products and read fashion magazines like it is a second job. If they would allow it, I would just live in Sephora. With this I always like to learn about new products that are both inexpensive and effective. Here is my guide to beauty products on the cheap--
1.Wet n Wild Liquid Felt Tip Eyeliner
I have people ask me about how I do the wing-tip eyes. This is my secret to having the perfect cat eye (the little flip on the edge) I use a regular pencil eyeliner for my entire eye then take the liquid felt tip and brush it out of the corner of my eye. It is less than $3 and it is water proof and lasts and lasts!
2.Colgate Wisps
As someone who is obsessed with white teeth I am obsessed with these handy little brushes. I keep them in my purse and they are great to feel refreshed after a long day or before you meet up someone. I especially love the whitening ones. For a pack of 2 it is under $2. These make my teeth feel great and my mouth feel fresh!
3. Freeman's Clay Mask
I love face masks. They make my skin feel so soft and pretty after I use it. I enjoy the Avacado and Oatmeal mask by Freemans. This brand is cheap, smells great, and is easy to use. Squeeze a small amount into your fingers apply to your face and let dry. After it drys simple wash your face. You can use it 2-3 times a week or a few times a year. The tube costs about $5 and last for a really long time.
4.Sephora Opi Nail Polish

4.Sephora Opi Nail Polish
I enjoy painting my nails. It is something really easy that always makes me feel like a million bucks. I notice I stare at my hands more when I have my nails painted, but I am really picky about polish chipping or any snags. With my old cheapier polish I would have to take it off as soon as I had done it, because it would not last. Then during a trip to Sephora I found the nail polish series- OPI by Sephora. I have 3 of the colors in that series and LOVE them all! It goes on really well, and lasts for days. It is great! the colors and really beautiful and the names are so fun. If you go to sephora you can even try them on to test if you will like it. The colors I have are Rock his World ( my newest- which is a gorgeous maroon color- perfect for fall, a purple color (forgot the name, but it was great for summer) and my FAVORITE a color called Metro Chic which is a grey. There is a picture of it below. It is a pretty neutral color and very fun. The cost of a bottle is $9, and it is WELL worth it! The bottle lasts a long time and the color actually stays on which means you don't have to redo them a million times.
5.Tresemme Fresh Start Frizz Control Creme
I love everything from the Treseme new line of Fresh start products. My favorite is the Frizz control creme- it smells wonderful and makes my heart soft and frizz free. I apply it to my hair when wet and it dries very nicely. They also have waterless shampoos that are great. I have one for curly hair. I use it at the end of the day if my hair starts to get flat from a hard day-- you take a couple of pumps and apply it to the roots. It perks your hair up and smells like citrus. There is another frizz control spray by Tresemme that is nice as well. My friend Jessica used it and instantly noticed how soft her hair was. Each of these products is less than $5.
6. A BIG happy smile
The best advice to look great is to wear a big happy smile. It instantly makes you look younger, healthier, and more approachable. The musical Annie said it best in the song- You're Never Fully Dressed Without a Smile. So, enjoy the video and I hope you liked this installment of: Atan's Guide To Beauty
Day 28:A salute to the wobs!
I recently came across this poem by Holly Bass and it summed up my feelings about my best friends in college... I took her ideas and ran with it. Here is my salute to my Best pals and Friend Soul Mates the WOBS!
Here's to:
All those times we laughed so hard we cried
All those times we talked for hours about nothing and everything
All those times we sat in silence and it was OK
All those times we danced when one of us had a bad day.
All those times we went to your weddings! Or were in your wedding!
All those times I needed you there for me and you were, no matter what
All those times we went to Hong Kong Inn and Andy's
All those times we listened to Sexy Back!
All those times I could tell you anything!
All those times we went crazy
All those times we inspired each other not to do homework
All those times I talked you guys into doing crazy things :)
All those times we got frustrated with each other, yet loved each other anyways
All those times we took pictures of yourselves wearing moustaches
All those times we made reasons to have a party and dance
All those times we watched movies or Conan in Meagan and Jessica's room
All those times we told people that Jessica was engaged
All those times we could vent to each other
All those times that we watched 'What not to wear and ate ice cream with peanut butter during our lunch dates
All those times we had inside jokes that make no sense to anyone else
All those times I we went to the Japanese Festival
All those times we gave people nicknames
All those times we dressed up for weird reasons and ran around campus
All those times we watched Meagan eat random food with chopsticks
All those times we yelled BENNY FRANKS or MAYBE down the hallway
All those times we would have to go out and eat after an terrible meal at the caf.
All those times we had WOB parties and gave each other underwear and bizarre gifts
All those times we wished we didn't have to leave one another
To my dearest WOBS-- I have so many great memories with you all. I thank God every day that he brought you each into my life. I know that I am my best when I am with you. With you all I can be fearless, ridiculous, vulnerable, and happy. Now, as we get older, get married, and move on with our lives I want you to know that you are always in my heart and on my mind. I constantly see things that make me think of you and all of the wonderful/ridiculous moments we shared. I can't wait to see you all again so I am taking this moment to reveal my new plan-- I am planning to see a WOB a month for the rest of the year. So, ladies lets get in touch and give me a preference of a month. I can't wait to see you all!

Day 27: 4 Little known Ashley Tanner facts
1. I hate too much ice. When putting ice in a glass they have to be all level, if it stick up over or when I put it up to my mouth and one sticks out above the rest, it has to be taken out. The follow below would never work.
2. I sometimes do voice overs for local advertisements-currently my voice is on several commercials airing in St. Roberts one of which is a weave shop.
3. I am a night owl. In college my normal bedtime was around 2-3am, which I guess is pretty common, but even now after being out of school for two years I still normally go to bed around midnight or 1a. For some reason when people find this out about me they always freak out. I can't help it. My mind comes alive at night, and I love going for a walk/run about 9 or 10. It helps me clear my head. I have some of my best work times really late at night-- but it has to hit before stupid o'clock when everything becomes WAY more funny than it would be during daylight. That is one thing I really miss about living in a dorm.
4. I love documentaries so much! I will watch documentaries about practically anything. Some of my favorites include- My date with Drew, the September Issue, and of course- Grey Gardens. Most recently I watched one called Google Baby on HBO, it was the story of surrogacy. A man went to the US to have the medical mixing done and then went to India to use these ladies as surrogates because it was cheaper. It was crazy to see how these women were treated and the process that they went through. I want to see that new documentary out- Babies, it looks sooo cute! I think I love documentaries so much because it forces you to look at the world in a different way-- a good one sticks with you.
